An updated list of the Detroit Lions’ 2025 draft picks remaining after an active 2024 draft.

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes was certainly not afraid to trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft. Of the Lions’ six picks in the draft, four were the result of a trade up. Two of those four trades only involved a swap of 2024 draft capital, but in the other two transactions, Holmes dipped into 2025 draft picks to consummate the deal.

First, he used a 2025 third-round pick to move into the fourth round and draft British Columbia offensive tackle Giovanni Manu. Shortly thereafter, Holmes packaged a sixth-round pick and a 2025 fourth-round pick to move from Pick 164 to Pick 132 and get a sixth-rounder in return. With the upgraded pick, the Lions drafted RB/S Sione Vaki.

While some general managers don’t love using future draft capital—especially considering future draft picks are generally viewed as one round less valuable than this year (ie: it takes a future third-round pick to trade for a fourth-round pick)—Holmes said the team had enough future draft capital that he believes he’s left the team in fine shape for the 2025 NFL Draft and beyond.

“I wouldn’t say (we’re) shorthanded,” Holmes said. “I think the only pick we don’t have is a third-round pick. Is that right? Would that be shorthanded if you’re missing one third-round pick?

“So, I feel really good about it. And we looked at that because I would not have thought that we would’ve been able to trade twice into the fourth round. When I looked at the – again, when you look at those things it’s like, ‘OK, well what are the future assets?’ Well, we did all the calculations and I was like, ‘Wait, well you can do it because you have the extra four.’ I was like, ‘Man, if you can do all of this and the only thing you feel like you’re losing is a future third, just go ahead and do it.’”
