In a new report from Fightful, WWE referee Rod Zapata, the official from the WrestleMania 35 main event between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch, was fined by Vince McMahon for the botched finish at the end of the match. Zapata’s argument was that the bout had been laid out ahead of time, and he assumed that Rousey would have a tough time recovering if the pinfall didn’t take place. Reports state that Zapata is receiving heat for this because WWE refs are supposed to call matches as a shoot, and Rousey’s shoulders being up are a clear indication that a count should not take place. It is still not know if Rousey being visibly upset was due to the finish being screwed up, or because of her broken hand.
Fightful also reports that WWE official Dan Engler was fined for an error in the tag team match between Chad Gable, Bobby Roode, Ricochet, and Aleister Black from last night’s Raw.
