on

This weekend was the culmination of the first year of competition for Street Fighter 6. Not just another Capcom Cup, but a huge tournament with a record-breaking prize pool. We got a new champion and a millionaire was made from winning the Capcom Cup X final bracket. How exactly did the tournament go?

Even in the Capcom Cup Group Stage, we saw some amazing players eliminated. With only the top active players here, there was a lot of competition here. In the end, the big winner came from an unexpected place. UMA has won the Capcom Cup X Final Bracket, with no sponsors or team backing him.

Capcom Cup X Final Bracket

After an LCQ and a lengthy three-day group stage, we finally began our final bracket over the weekend. For UMA, this began with a match-up against KUSANAGI. Even here the player stood out though, with a clean 3-0 win. Then he beat Leshar in the next round with the same tally. He first ran into resistance when up against Chris Wong.

After his own strong run through the early Capcom Cup X Final Bracket, Chris Wong was in prime position here. Their first match in the Winners Final was considerably closer than UMA’s clashes so far. UMA only just came out ahead at 3-2.

This sent Wong back down to the Losers Final, where he beat Gachikun. It set the stage for a rematch for our Grand Final, with a million dollars in a prize pool at stake.

Uma Wins at the Grand Final

We headed into the Grand Finale with a rematch of the winners’ finale. Given how close the match before this was though, there was still a lot to play for. The first set of this saw the tables turn completely on UMA. Chris Wong took the first set 3-0.

As he’s coming up from the losers bracket though, this meant a second chance. In the next round, it was truly winner-take-all, with the third clash between these two in just the Capcom Cup Final Bracket. Ultimately, UMA was the strongest player out of all SF 6 FG esports competitors.

He completely reversed things from the first side. He adapted and took the win at 3-0. Claiming the Champion title for the Capcom Cup in 2023.

UMA qualified for the Capcom Cup from the Pro Tour World Warrior regional events, beating Chris Wong back in November. The player has had other impressive results in his years active, but his total winning has definitely gotten the biggest boost from winning the Capcom Cup X Final bracket. The tournament is an achievement in of itself, and this win might cement UMA as one of the most recognizable best SF 6 players for the entire lifetime of the game.
