“Physically we are very similar, we are both very long. I watch a lot of what he does. I observe his attitude, he is very calm, very concentrated, he stays in his bubble, very professional. In the game he is interesting because he is able to take the first pull without forcing.”

The 25-year-old from Metz Ugo Humert revealed how the improvements shown by the Italian Jannik SInner particularly impressed him. The Frenchman analyzed the tennis and behavior of his Italian colleague, drawing parallels and explaining how he is very similar to the winner of the Australian Open.

“Jannik Sinnerm and I are very similar”

“Sinner has made huge progress physically. He moves very well, opens his legs a lot, is often in an open position, never wastes time. This makes me think… I also have this quality of not giving my opponent time, both with my forehand and my backhand,” explained Humbert explained.

Humbert is experiencing a moment of great form, which allowed him to win his fifth ATP title a few days ago, beating Grigor Dimitrov in the final in Marseille. The Frenchman, who reached 18th place in the ATP ranking, doesn’t want to stop here and aims even higher, taking Sinner as a model, with whom he sees many points in common.

The Frenchman, having archived the title in Marseille, will try to repeat himself in the ATP 500 in Rotterdam, where he could cross paths before the hypothetical final against Sinner. If Sinner will see his debut against the home tennis player Botic Van De Zandschulp, the transalpine will face the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori.

The challenge between them, if both were to go far in the tournament, could instead take place in the semi-final. We recall if Sinner should win the ATP 500 in Rotterdam, he will become the new ATP No.3.
