Tsitsipas’ heartbreaking confession: “Seeing Paula Badosa suffer hurts me”

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ relationship with Paula Badosa made many insiders turn up their noses, who criticized their love story as it would have been harmful to the professional focus of the two young tennis players.

The winner of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters instead defended his girlfriend from these allegations and told how difficult it was for him to be close to her after the serious injury suffered by Paula last February.

“Paula had a serious back injury. People don’t understand the difficult times she went through,” he told Tennis Channel.

The Greek champion explained that his girlfriend’s conditions are improving but not yet completely resolved: “She’s much better now. I have always been there for her, watching her progress and improvements. She had a much more serious injury than me.

And going through these hardships and seeing her suffer so much hurt me, finding myself in a similar situation months later. Now I feel that her fitness is back. I feel like she’s upping her game again.

I have no reason to believe that she will not only be at the same level as before, but even better. The hunger is there. She hasn’t played much and I’ve never seen Paula more hungry and more determined to get on the court and do great things,” he explained.

The Greek, who experienced a difficult moment between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, is slowly returning to his level and the victory in Monte Carlo made it clear that for the next big clay-swing events he will be one of the tennis players to beat.
