Tommy Haas: I have the feeling Serena Williams is going to come back

on

Tommy Haas thinks Serena Williams may be contemplating a return to tennis.

Williams, who turned 41 in late September, retired from pro tennis after this year’s US Open.

Williams, a former 23-time Grand Slam champion, was out for 12 months before entering Wimbledon.

After suffering early losses at Wimbledon, Toronto and Cincinnati, Williams returned to the practice court.

In the US Open second round, Williams defeated Anett Kontaveit – who at the time was the second-ranked player in the world.

In her following match, Williams delivered a big fight against Ajla Tomljanovic but ultimately fell short to this year’s Wimbledon quarter finalist in three sets.

Haas on Williams: I feel she will return for one more time

“Serena had an incredible, long and strong career. But I have the feeling that she is going to come back and say, ‘I’m going to play one more time’. She came so close to playing really well again and going far, so I think deep down it really annoys her. She might really be thinking about whether she wants to try again. I may be wrong because I’m not that close [to her]. will mostly depend on how it looks mentally, how she feels physically and whether she has the desire to torture herself like that again after achieving so much. Serena also does a lot of things off the court and is a mother,” Haas told Eurosport Germany tennis podcast Das Gelbe vom Ball.

Even though Williams is retired from pro tennis, she still has a very busy schedule.

Williams, who became a mother in 2017, has responsibilities around her family and she is also focused on growing her business.

In the summer of 2021, Williams sustained a leg injury at Wimbledon.

After being out for 12 months, Williams announced she would be making her return at this year’s Wimbledon.

It remains to be seen if Williams will decide to ever again play on the pro level.
