Under the proud gaze of his father, Tiger Woods, and his mother, Elin Nordegren, the young man posed with his fellow players before being warmly congratulated by the winner of fifteen Grand Slam tournaments between 1997 and 2019.

As a member of the Benjamin Boys Golf team, 15-year-old Charlie Woods is coached by Toby Harbeck, leading the school to win the state team championship for the first time since 2009. This marks the third trophy for the Bucs in 2023, following titles in Districts and Regions.

Tiger Woods was born on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California, to Earl and Kultida “Tida” Woods. He is their only child, although he has two half-brothers and a half-sister from his father’s previous marriage. Earl, a retired U.S. Army officer and Vietnam War veteran, had African-American, European, and Native American ancestry. Kultida, originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai, Chinese, and Dutch descent. Tiger’s ethnic background is diverse, with ancestry from Thai, Chinese, Caucasian, African American, and Native American heritage.

Tiger’s first name, Eldrick, was chosen by his mother to honor his father, Earl, and his middle name, Tont, is a traditional Thai name. He was given the nickname “Tiger” in tribute to his father’s friend, South Vietnamese Colonel Vuong Dang Phong, who was also known as Tiger. Tiger Woods has a niece, Cheyenne Woods, who followed in his footsteps, playing collegiate golf for Wake Forest University and turning professional in 2012, making her debut in the LPGA Championship.
