Three hour programming blocks continue to deliver for AEW

The numbers are in for the April 20 episode of AEW Collision — and Rampage — on TNT.

According to Wrestlenomics, from 8-10pm ET Collision drew 461,000 viewers and scored a .13 rating among 18-49 year olds. The overall audience is down a little more than 1% from the previous Saturday, and the demo rating was unchanged week-to-week.

Collision was followed by a live episode of Rampage, which had been pre-empted out of its usual Friday at 10pm ET timeslot by the NBA Playoffs Play-In Tournament. A lot of Collision’s audience stuck around for that, as it delivered 397,000 viewers and a .13 rating in 18-49 for TNT. Those are that show’s best numbers since it aired after Dynamite on Mar. 20. Not counting that three hour block, you have to go back to Feb. 9 to find a Rampage that performed as well.

Compared to the previous episode of Rampage (which aired at its usual spot on the schedule), the Saturday edition was up 35% in total viewers, and 62% in the demo.

Wrestling fans don’t love three hour television shows, but this is the latest instance of AEW’s attempts at one delivering solid numbers for them and their partners at Warner Bros Discovery. Granted, this was the final push to Dynasty, involved RVD on a weed holiday AND a leaked pregnancy announcement. But it also went head-to-head with an NBA Playoff game between LeBron James’ Lakers and the defending champion Denver Nuggets on ABC that, per SportsMediaWatch, was watched by 2.33 million viewers and did a 2.8 rating.

As you form prayer circles for or against a three-hour Dynamite every week, here’s a look at the viewership and demo rating for every episode of Collision since its launch last summer:

* Aired on a Friday
