The tennis players in activity who have won the most titles (and who wrote history)

Writing history is a project that all athletes dream of. In tennis it doesn’t often succeed, on the contrary: it is usually only a small group of athletes who emerge and become, at various degrees, the elite of this magnificent and very tough sport. The sport we love.

There are few athletes who make a living from tennis (we often know this, it is often said and we hope that the associations will do something).

The tennis players in the top-100 manage to make a living from tennis, those in the top-20 have the possibility of achieving great goals, those in the top-10 can aspire to rewrite history. And that’s how it usually works, with a few rare exceptions.

But who are the currently active players who have won the most ATP titles?

With the success in Monte-Carlo, Stefanos Tsitsipas won the 11th title of his career. A career that so far has seen his most important successes precisely in Monte Carlo.

At the top of this ranking is obviously ATP no.1 Novak Djokovic. The Serbian champion has won 98 tournaments in his career and of these 24 are Slam tournaments.

Following is Rafael Nadal with 92 ATP titles including 22 Slams. At a great distance then we find Andy Murray with 46 tournaments won including 3 Grand Slams. Far behind the leaders but with a big advantage over his pursuers, Andy.

Next we find Alexander Zverev with 21 titles but no Slam title won, then Daniil Medvedev with 20 titles (1 Slam), Marin Cilic in turn with 20 titles (and 1 Slam), Dominic Thiem with 17 titles (1 Slam).

Stan Wawrinka follows with 16 tournaments, but 3 of these are Slam titles. Paired with the Swiss is Richard Gasquet, with 16 titles but no Slam. Then there is Andrey Rublev, with 15 tournaments (0 Slams). Carlos Alcaraz (2 Slams) and Jannik Sinner (1 Slam) have won 13 tournaments together.

Then there are Kei Nishikori and Gael Monfils (12 titles but 0 Slams). As mentioned, Stefanos Tsitsipas, with the success obtained in Monte Carlo in 11 tournaments, has caught up with Roberto Bautista Agut. However, there are no Grand Slam titles for both the Greek and the Spanish.
