The Miami Dolphins will miss the playoffs per PFN Playoff Predictor

Playoff predictor spots a potential problem that could derail the Dolphins season.

The 2024 season has progressed into OTA’s, and rosters are mostly set. A few signings after the post-June 1st cuts could make an impact, but the off-season roster building is hitting its final stretch.

Now that the water has settled, it’s time for some bold predictions to hit the surface.

Pro Football Network kicked the dust off their playoff predictor, flipped the switch on, and spat out some discouraging news for Miami Dolphins fans. The predictor has the Miami Dolphins finishing 9-8 on the season and missing the playoffs.

I would take the prediction with a grain of salt because it also had the New England Patriots winning nine games, but it did fairly lean on a reputation the Dolphins haven’t been able to escape, and that’s being late-season chokers.

The predictor hit a stop through every quarter of the season, and after week twelve, the Dolphins were standing at 8-3 and the second seed in the AFC, similar to their 2023 season.

This time, the Dolphins didn’t hold their head above water to make the playoffs as a six seed like in 2023 or win the season finale with Skylar Thompson in 2022 to back door into the playoffs. They lose five out of their final six games, finish the season 9-8, and miss the playoffs, making it the worst collapse in recent memory.

I can’t fathom the Dolphins losing five out of their last six games outside of a major quarterback injury. I just don’t see it, but all six games are against potential playoff teams, and three of them will be on the road in cold weather environments, including the last two games of the season in Cleveland and New York.

The question becomes, have the Dolphins adjusted their roster enough to compete and win in cold-weather games? If they haven’t, this prediction could be what lies ahead for them in 2024.

Let us know in the comments your opinion of PFN’s playoff prediction results and if the Dolphins have the roster to succeed in the late 2024 schedule.
