Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, more rip Chip Kelly in new podcast – PhillyVoice
Tom Brady’s roast may have just aired on Netflix, but the roast of Chip Kelly has hit LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson’s podcast, “The 25/10 Show.” On a new episode that premiered on Thursday morning, McCoy and Jackson got “raw” and “uncut” about the Kelly era in Philadelphia. McCoy and Jackson were teammates during Kelly’s first season with the Eagles in 2013. Jackson was controversially released the following offseason, which he calls a “coward-ass move,” and then McCoy was shockingly traded the next one. Unsurprisingly, neither of these guys like Kelly. Why should they? In one clip from the episode that was shared, the duo phoned a few of their former teammates from the 2013 Eagles: Jason Peters, current Eagle Brandon Graham and Jeremy Maclin. Those players did not hold back when the hosts asked what the first thing that comes to their mind about Kelly.

DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy torch Chip Kelly: ‘Uncomfortable around Black players’ – NBCSP
McCoy presented an opinion he had on Kelly that the coach treated Black players differently from white players. “I never had a coach who was scared – not even scared – I’ll say uncomfortable around Black players,” McCoy said about Kelly. “Let’s not hide it, right? Most of the players are black. The NFL is dominated by Black players.” He presented a story about a Black teammate, cornerback Roc Carmichael, who wore his hair long. McCoy said Kelly told Carmichael to “be more presentable.” McCoy went on to share his experience following an incident where his teammate, wide receiver Riley Cooper, used a racial slur at a Black security guard at a June 2013 concert. Cooper was fined by the team and agreed to undergo sensitivity training. McCoy believed that after Cooper apologized to the team, Kelly kept Cooper away from the NovaCare Complex for several days to avoid any incidents. “I had a good relationship with Coop,” McCoy said. “Ain’t no way he’s racist… but I wanted to talk to him. Chip made it so nobody could even speak to him, no one could even talk to him. And I’m thinking like, ‘How does that even happen? You say all this and that, and you just say ‘sorry’ and you leave and not ever talk about it? [Kelly] hid that whole thing from us.”

Vic Fangio advocates for more offseason practices as Eagles’ new DC – BGN
The DC was later asked about the Eagles offseason program and how he felt about head coach Nick Sirianni’s approach — more walkthroughs, fewer live reps —, and Fangio said they’ll make do with what they’ve got, but admitted he’s pushing for more. On whether Fangio pushed for more practices before joining the staff, he pointed to Sirianni to answer.

Eagles rookie Quinyon Mitchell has quietly fought for what he wants: ‘He’s one of one’ – The Athletic
Mitchell knows there can be serenity in simplicity. There can be clarity in the repetition of mountains and forests along a Pennsylvania highway, a trance that sweeps the subconscious clean in favor of more important thoughts. Same with football. When other Toledo teammates carefully curated pregame playlists, Mitchell just picked a random song and played it over and over again. “That’s Q,” said Corey Parker, Mitchell’s position coach at Toledo in 2022 and 2023. “He’s definitely cut from a different cloth. It’s the Quinyon Mitchell cloth. He’s one of one.” Mitchell and Hook arrived on campus in January 2020, the same month as Vince Kehres, Toledo’s defensive coordinator. Kehres remembers how it was 15 degrees outside when a support staffer picked Mitchell up at the Detroit airport. Mitchell rolled into the facility wearing a pair of shorts and some slides. A new defensive staff began developing a cornerback who was competitive enough to play immediately but still rugged enough to be refined. On the first day of workouts, the Toledo staff set up a speed competition drill. Groups were tiered by talent and tenure, Hook figured. He was in the fourth group. He thought it was notable that Mitchell was already in the first. Oh, man, my roommate must be fast. The whistle blew. Mitchell won by 5 yards. Coaches grinned at each other. “Oh, my God,” Hook remembered thinking. “Is that my roommate?”

Spadaro: Offense shaping up as Kellen Moore creates dynamic vision – PE.com
Kellen Moore is in the laboratory, mixing in some of this, adding a little bit of that, dabbling in the stuff over there. He is the scientist, if you will, the offensive coordinator of a Philadelphia Eagles offense that has all the ingredients for greatness. It’s the combination of elements that he’s working on now as the Eagles progress through their offseason program. It is, as he said throughout his introductory press conference on Thursday at the NovaCare Complex, a process. And a very invigorating and enjoyable one at that. “I think everyone’s got their different flavor from a systematic approach. Our real focus here, as we’ve gone through this process, is we’ve got a lot of good going on,” Moore said. “We can’t lose the good in the reps that (quarterback) Jalen (Hurts) and (wide receiver) A.J. (Brown) have developed and (tight end) Dallas (Goedert) has developed and this offensive line has developed. How can we build off of those things and really connect the whole thing?”

Eagles ST coordinator Michael Clay: We have to use new kickoff return as a weapon – PFT
“I think, when you really peel back this whole thing, it’s still kickoff, kickoff return,” Clay said, via a transcript from the team. “In terms of, okay, you’re a non-returner, we’ve still got to be fundamentally sound when we’re blocking. We do have a couple of good returners back there. We have to use this new kickoff return as a weapon. Vice versa on kickoff coverage, you’ve still got to go cover these opponent teams, these opposite teams of stopping them with some good returners. So it’s still going to go back to day one install of, hey, this is our kickoff coverage overview, this is our kickoff return overview. This is what we expect out of this unit. Again, I think, when you do have a couple of good returners, it takes the other nine guys to really lock in and be able to use this as a weapon.”

Quarterback Three Year Salary Cap Values – Over The Cap
Jalen Hurts could be higher depending on long term being a factor. His contract runs a long time and is dirt cheap on the cap but there is a massive bill to pay at the end if things go sideways. If just picking short term though it is fair to put him with the Love group.

Dallas Cowboys are playing a dangerous waiting game with Dak Prescott – SB Nation
The Lamb contract is going to be very interesting to watch, because his contemporaries in Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Brandon Aiyuk could all reset the wide receiver market. Jefferson could get the richest contract ever given to a receiver in the NFL. By not extending Dak and giving themselves some flexibility, they’re losing time to get out ahead on contracts with Lamb, who could reset the market himself—whether it be with Dallas or another team. If the Cowboys were as “all-in” as they said they would be, a Dak extension would give them flexibility to work with in 2024, to bring in more free agents at positions of need. However, their lack of urgency could cost them their franchise QB, and leave them in the wilderness searching for a QB once again.

Examining Cowboys’ decision to bypass running backs in the draft in favor of Ezekiel Elliott and Marist Liufau – Blogging The Boys
Between the Cowboys selection of Cooper Beebe and when they are on the clock again at No. 87 only one RB was drafted, Blake Corum. He went 83rd overall to the Los Angeles Rams, still leaving several running backs worthy of being selected here. Instead, Dallas pulls off arguably the biggest shocker by not only bypassing the RB position once again, but selecting LB Marist Liufau out of Notre Dame. Drafting Marist Liufau at No. 87 was considered a pretty significant reach by the Cowboys. He was expected to be a mid-to-late Day 3 selection and was given a fifth-sixth round draft grade by Dane Brugler. This is where knowing of Ezekiel Elliott’s availability on the open market most likely impacted the Cowboys decision-making and potentially cost them their running back of the future.

Allen Robinson signing: New York Giants add veteran wide receiver – Big Blue View
The New York Giants continued to add to their wide receiver room on Thursday, announcing the signing of veteran receiver Allen Robinson. Robinson, who will be 31 this season, started all 17 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. He had just 34 receptions for 280 yards, and averaged a career-low 8.2 yards per catch. A 2014 second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Robinson has 562 career receptions for 7,028 yards (12.5 yards per catch), with 43 touchdowns.

Washington Commanders rookies get their numbers; Jayden Daniels and Tress Way make a deal – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders will have the rookies in Ashburn on Friday to start rookie mini-camp. The players have arrived, and that means they’re going to need jersey numbers as they enter the NFL. Many teams have already released their rookie numbers, and Washington made a few announcements, including a deal between rookie QB Jayden Daniels and team captain Tress Way for the #5 jersey.
