Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

2024 NFL draft: Best picks, trades, QB fits and predictions – ESPN+
Which team produced your favorite class? Miller: Philadelphia Eagles. In the 2002 NFL draft, the Eagles used three early picks to remake a bad secondary. It changed the defense immediately. That’s what GM Howie Roseman must be thinking in 2024. The additions of Quinyon Mitchell in Round 1 and Cooper DeJean in a Round 2 trade up will immediately boost a secondary that looked old, slow and banged up during the team’s collapse late in 2023. The late part of Round 3 was a solid place to draft developmental pass-rusher Jalyx Hunt from Houston Christian too. He’s the type of player who could be a massive steal if the Eagles can tap into his raw potential.

2024 NFL Draft Results: Eagles welcome 9 new rookies to Philadelphia – BGN
The Eagles entered the draft with cornerback as arguably their biggest need. They left the draft with a player who wasn’t widely expected to fall to No. 22. Mitchell figures to immediately compete for the starting cornerback role across from Darius Slay. If his college production is any indication, he has the potential to make a lot of plays on the ball in the NFL.

The 6 best player-team fits in the 2024 NFL Draft so far – SB Nation
Quinyon Mitchell, CB — Philadelphia Eagles. Another instance of Philadelphia finding absolute ballers where they shouldn’t be able to, Quinyon Mitchell is going to be a beast in this defense. A corner with a brilliant suite of physical traits, it’s the instinctual way he plays football that will fit like a glove in Philly. That’s the common DNA of the Eagles’ defense. It’s player after player who intimately understand their assignments and what they need to execute on. Mitchell is gifted at playing the ball in the air and being an impact player who can destroy big plays. Mitchell is a player who won’t just beat you, he’ll break your heart in the process. It’s for this reason he’s going to be a hit with the Eagles.

Grading the Eagles’ final 2024 draft haul – PhillyVoice
Because Houston Christian games aren’t exactly easy to find, I can really only have so much of an opinion on this player. The pessimistic view is that the Eagles have had their share of third-round developmental types who have busted in the past, like Davion Taylor, Curtis Marsh, Bryan Smith, etc. The optimistic view is that two of the three draft analysts we mentioned above in the DeJean section had Hunt rated at least 24 spots higher than where he was drafted. Grade: C+

Day 3 – More Players and Future Picks – Iggles Blitz
4 – RB Will Shipley – Clemson – 5-11, 206. Ran for 1182 yards and 15 TDs in 2022. Clemson had a down year in 2023 and Shipley wasn’t as productive. He is a good runner, but really stood out as a receiver. Runs good routes and knows how to get open. Shipley ran 4.45 at the Combine, but you don’t see that speed on tape. Only had one play of 50 or more yards in college. He will move the chains. Shipley has a chance to be a backup the coaches will trust right away because he can run, catch and block. He doesn’t have high end potential, but could prove to be a good role player.

How Howie Roseman has rebuilt Eagles’ hapless secondary – NBCSP
Slay is 33 and still playing well, but 30-year-olds Kevin Byard and James Bradberry were a far cry from their prime seasons, and the combination of three 30-year-old starters in the same secondary made the Eagles’ pass defense sitting ducks against speedy young receivers. They were only the second NFC team in the last 20 years with three 30-year-old defensive backs starting at least 10 games. Kevin Byard, Bradley Roby, Justin Evans and Terrell Edmunds, all starters at one point last year, are gone, replaced by younger, fast – and the Eagles hope – more effective players. Bradberry could be the next to leave. Go back to opening day 2023. The only Eagles defensive back in the regular rotation who was 26 or younger was Blankenship. In 2024, that number could go up to six – Mitchell, DeJean, Gardner-Johnson, Rodgers, Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks. Seven once Sydney Brown is healthy. If you’re trying to defend people like CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Cooper Kupp and Deebo Samuel, Puka Nacua, JaMarr Chase and George Pickens, you better have a secondary full of guys who can fly. The Eagles finally have a stable of those guys.

Debrief: 32 thoughts for 32 teams after the 2024 NFL Draft – NFL.com
“Howie did it again!” It’s almost become cliché to praise Eagles GM Howie Roseman, but you can’t blame the man for the board falling to him so well. They got the top cornerback in the draft at No. 22 (Quinyon Mitchell) and then moved up for a first-round talent in Cooper DeJean at No. 40 overall. Having DeJean and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in the same defensive backfield is going to give Philadelphia incredible versatility. New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio should know just how to use them. The biggest move the Eagles made on draft weekend, however, was the extension handed to receiver A.J. Brown. The team has done an incredible job locking up its young talent for the next five years.

Eagles wanted new players with a built-in chip on their shoulders – PFT
That’s the goal. Guys who want to win. Guys who have extra motivation to prove people wrong. “I know coach [Nick Sirianni] gets a hard time sometimes for playing one-on-one or playing rock, paper, scissors, but he is doing it to find out how competitive people are,” Roseman said. “He wants to see when he beats them, are they mad or are they just like, ‘Oh, I don’t really care.’ Because he is competitive. We’re looking for that kind of thing. We’re always looking for that, but it was more important to us more than ever this offseason.” It makes sense. The new players didn’t experience the massive collapse and the local and national reaction to it. If they can bring in the same kind of mindset from a different place and refocus it, that’s the next best thing to being part of the 2023 Eagles.

’A very emotional moment’ for Eagles Hall of Famer Jeremiah Trotter after his son is drafted – PE.com
The stress, the entire weekend, the pre-NFL Draft process – all of it weighed on Jeremiah Trotter for days, for weeks, and especially for this weekend waiting for THE Call for his son, Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. It finally came on Saturday afternoon with both of them in a truck on the campus of West Virginia University, where another Trotter, Josiah, had just finished his team’s spring game. Junior’s phone rang. He jumped on the phone. Dad fidgeted. A lot. “Man, the emotions. Unbelievable. Extremely happy. Extremely relieved. We finally got that phone call,” Trotter said shortly after the pick was made, smiling ear to ear. “Only thing was, I didn’t know who he was talking to for a minute so, when he told me, I mean, it’s unbelievable. To get that phone call from my Philadelphia Eagles, unbelievable.”

Texas A&M WR Ainias Smith drafted by the Eagles in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft – Good Bull Hunting
Texas A&M WR Ainias Smith has realized his NFL dream, being taken in the 5th Round of the NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. I have to admit, as a Cowboys fan, this one hurts.

What Trevor Keegan brings to the Philadelphia Eagles – Maize N Brew
Trevor Keegan played on a team that relied heavily on the run game in each season. However, 2023 highlighted a more balanced offensive game plan which allowed Keegan to show improvements during pass protection this season. It’s not unreasonable to assume Keegan will be in the top group of linemen picked up this year. Michigan’s offensive line also benefits from having played some of the strongest defenses in the country. That means what he puts on tape should be a good representation of how he’ll perform against talented players in the NFL. Another aspect of Keegan’s game is his leadership and winning mindset. He is a guy who could have gone pro a season earlier but came back to win a championship. He’s a team player something coaches can appreciate.

Florida State wide receiver Johnny Wilson drafted by Philadelphia Eagles – Tomahawk Nation
Florida State’s draft success continues with wide receiver Johnny Wilson going to the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 185 overall pick Wilson put up over 1500 yards and seven touchdowns as one of Jordan Travis’ go to targets the last two seasons.

Dylan McMahon lands with Eagles; five Pack players sign as UDFAs – Backing The Pack
Dylan McMahon became the second and final NC State player taken in the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday, going to the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round. The Eagles need a new starting center following the retirement of Jason Kelce, so this is a pretty good opportunity for McMahon. Philly’s Director of Player Personnel said that McMahon’s quickness is what jumped out, and added that he has “high care factor on the technique,” which is an excellent scouting phrase. Make sure you have a high care factor with you technique in everything you do in life, kids!

The best and worst pick from the Dallas Cowboys 2024 draft class – Blogging The Boys
Worst pick: DE Marshawn Kneeland, 56th overall pick. First and foremost, Kneeland is a very talented edge rusher. A few analysts had him as first-round talent as he proved to be one of the more athletic players at his position in the draft. To call him the worst pick of the Cowboys class isn’t to criticize him as an individual player. It is to say the Cowboys had much better options for their football team still on the board.

‘Things I think’ about the Giants’ 2024 NFL Draft – Big Blue View
Round 1 (No. 6) — Malik Nabers, WR, LSU. Everybody who has followed Big Blue View during the draft buildup knows I was a Rome Odunze guy. I consistently said, though, that any of the top three receivers — Nabers, Odunze, Marvin Harrison Jr. — would be a great get for the Giants. I think that if you haven’t yet read the piece from SB Nation’s LSU site ‘And The Valley Shook’ calling Nabers the best LSU receiving prospect EVER you really should.

2024 NFL Draft Grades: Mel Kiper Jr and others are high on the Washington Commanders draft – Hogs Haven
Washington didn’t address their need at offensive tackle, but they did make a trade with a division rival to gain some draft positions. That trade allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to draft Iowa DB Cooper DeJean, while Washington picked Michigan CB Mike Sainristil with the first pick from the trade. Peters followed that up by giving Jayden Daniels a new weapon with Kansas State TE Ben Sinnott. Peters said he saw some George Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk in his tape, two of his best players from the 49ers.
