Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

2024 NFL Draft: Five takeaways from Daniel Jeremiah’s conference call – NFL.com
The division-rival Eagles are always a prime candidate to move. GM Howie Roseman didn’t come to be known as “Trader Howie” by being a wallflower, and after an offseason of losing some pieces, they might be ready to make a big jump up for the right player — perhaps one of the top two cornerbacks in this class, Alabama’s Terrion Arnold or Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell. “I never sleep on Howie Roseman as a potential (mover) to go north or south,” Jeremiah said. “I always keep an eye on them. I think they have a pretty obvious need there at corner. “You have somebody like Terrion Arnold or even Mitchell, if … either those guys start to drift a little bit, I wouldn’t sleep at all on the Eagles being an aggressive team and going up there and trying to get one of those corners.”

10 bust-proof NFL Draft prospects in 2024 – SB Nation
Terrion Arnold, cornerback, Alabama. Our first defensive player on this offensive-heavy list, Arnold is the surest thing at cornerback. He is primed to be a No. 1 cornerback at the next level. He has played at the highest college level and he has the talent, smarts and attitude to excel at the NFL level. Whoever drafts him gets an alpha defender.

2024 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles add interior offensive lineman – BGN
I know what many of you may be thinking, and I get it. The center? Let me make an argument. It’s no secret that there are major changes going on with the Eagles right now: two brand new coordinators for the second straight year, a new franchise RB, and most notably the loss of two legendary players to retirement. Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox are both incredibly influential players that this franchise will have a really hard time replacing. But what if I told you we can get one out of the way immediately?

A detailed look at the pros and cons of the Eagles drafting Lane Johnson’s successor in the first round – PhillyVoice
And by the way, during the Eagles’ Super Bowl season, it wasn’t just Nick Foles filling in at an extremely important position. Halapoulivaati Vaitai was the starting LT in place of Jason Peters, and he had an outstanding performance in the NFC Championship Game against Everson Griffen, who had 13 sacks for the Vikings that season. If Johnson and Jordan Mailata somehow both have three durable seasons and they continue to play at a high level, then the drafted player might have a prolonged stay on the bench. Of course, at least the silver lining in that scenario is that, you know, the Eagles will have three more seasons with the best offensive tackle duo in the league still playing at a high level. They’d sign up for that even if they drafted an offensive tackle in the first round this year.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts opens up about ‘revolving door’ of play callers – NBCSP
On Wednesday, in perhaps his most revealing interview since he became an Eagle, Hurts spoke bluntly about how much it would benefit him and the offense to have a play caller over a number of years. “I think I think as a player, I definitely yearn for the sustainability and the consistency there,” he said. “As coach Stout (Jeff Stoutland) serves for his offensive line room, as a quarterback, I yearn for those things in a play caller and a quarterback coach because you kind of see how consistency in those areas can breed excellence. “And his track record shows that. So that’s definitely something that I desire.” Stoutland has been the Eagles’ offensive line coach since 2013, and since then the Eagles have had six offensive linemen make a total of 23 Pro Bowls. Thirteen years – under three different head coaches – is highly unusual. But the Eagles haven’t had the same offensive coordinator for more than two years since Pat Shurmur from 2013 through 2015.

Report: Seahawks hosting former first round running back on free agent visit – Field Gulls
Since being selected with the 27th pick in the 2018 draft, Rashaad Penny has started 11 games, rushing for 1,951 yards and 13 touchdowns in six seasons for the Seahawks and Eagles. In spite of significant optimism for his on-field performance following his signing with Philadelphia last offseason, he tied a career low in rushing attempts and set a new career low in rushing yards while being stuck behind D’Andre Swift, Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott.

Cowboys, Giants, Eagles are potential options for Bill Belichick in 2025 – PFT
Bill Belichick presumably intends to coach again in 2025. Wednesday’s #LongRead from ESPN.com identified the teams he reportedly would be interested in coaching. They are the three teams that many have already pegged as potential destinations: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants. Cowboys owner and G.M. Jerry Jones already has spoken publicly about the possibility of working with Belichick. It’s something that might have happened in 2024, if Jones were willing to pay current coach Mike McCarthy not to work for the Cowboys in the final year of his contract. And the Cowboys make the most sense. That’s a place where Belichick could say he fully intends to be only the coach and be held to it, since the front office and ownership are one in the same.

One bargain free agent the Cowboys should sign before the 2024 NFL Draft – Blogging The Boys
At this point in his career, he’s not going to be a Pro Bowler, but he does have extensive experience starting at the center position, something the Cowboys do not currently have on their roster. Signing Allen would not cost much. As referenced above, the predicted contract would be a one-year, $3M deal. Bringing in Allen would provide Dallas with a cheap insurance policy if they are unable to select a starting-caliber center in the upcoming draft. At this point in the offseason, it’s all about finding hidden value at a reasonable cost. Brian Allen would provide that for the Cowboys and they should strongly consider signing him before the start of the draft.

Giants’ WR Darius Slayton skipping voluntary workouts – Big Blue View
New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is skipping voluntary workouts, per a report from ESPN. Slayton, who signed a two-year, $12.2 million contract prior to the 2023 season, reportedly wants a contract extension beyond the 2024 season. He’s due to make $350,000 if he hits his attendance threshold for offseason workouts. He could, however, consider a contract extension to be worth the trade-off.

The Six Traps Every NFL GM Must Avoid – The Ringer
3. The Plug-and-Play Trap. After the draft, we’ll all comb through depth charts and assume that teams will be fine in certain areas because they used the draft to fill a need. But the truth is that’s usually not the case. If we look at the past five seasons, we find that just 37.2 percent of drafted rookies played at least 300 snaps (17 snaps per game). That means more than 62 percent of drafted rookies played fewer than that number. And by the way, this is just about getting on the field; we’re not even discussing whether the rookies played at a competent or above-average level. If we included those filters, the number (37.2 percent) would shrink even more. The point is that being a rookie in the NFL is hard. Players like Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and Dallas edge rusher Micah Parsons, who immediately became among the best players in the league at their positions, are major exceptions. Most of the time, if you pick a prospect because you’re convinced he can be a serious contributor from day one, you’ll be disappointed.
