Who will win the Australian Open 2024? The former Roger Federer’s coach Ivan Ljubicic tried to answer this question. The Croatian coach expressed his opinions on who the great protagonists of the Australian Major could be, which began today, Sunday 14 January 2024.

Roger Federer’s former coach gave an interesting interview to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, speaking at the opening of the chances of Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner of reaching the end of the Melbourne Slam.

“Sinner has deserved the consideration that everyone now has for him: when you are a top player, there is no draw that can take you out of the favorite role. And he is now, together with Djokovic, Alcaraz and Medvedev. last three months of 2023 have said this and for now there are no reasons to change the prediction,” explained Ljubicic.

The former Croatian tennis player, winner of 10 ATP titles and with the best ranking of number 3 in 2006, also expressed the wrist problem that Novak Djokovic had to deal with during the United Cup.

“Normal fatigue at the beginning of the season: the training is never like the match. And when you increase the intensity, you have to deal with some small ailments during the race. But Nole has accustomed us to winning the Australian Open even on one leg: we necessarily have to start from him,” said Ljubicic, who therefore has no doubts about who the player to beat is.

As for the women’s draw, Federer’s former coach explained: “Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka seem above the others to me but I’m curious about Naomi Osaka. And in any case, many can win.” For the women’s singles, among the favourites there will be also Elena Rybakina (finalist of the last edition), which started the season with the triumph at the Brisbane International, by beating Sabalenka in straight sets.
