The five drivers everyone wants to get their hands on in 2024

on

The year 2024 promises much when it comes to the offerings from top brands in the driver category.

Big brands are dropping significant updates and new clubs that could be game changers.

Here we take a look at five of the most-anticipated new arrivals

Callaway Paradym Smoke Ai

What do they say about it: “The new Paradym Ai Smoke driver represents a quantum leap forward in Callaway’s Ai journey.

“This new family of drivers feature the most sophisticated driver face in Callaway history, the Ai Smart Face. This face uses real player data and advanced machine learning to create a series of sweet spots all over the face.

“The Ai Smoke MAX driver features a forgiving shape and adjustable perimeter weighting to deliver up to 19 yards of shot shape correction.”

Bear in mind that this is not a single club but a full range of drivers and if you are keen on getting in on the premium driver action you should take the time to make the right choice.

The Ai Smoke MAX driver is probably the club that will do the most in sales given its much broader market.

PING G430 MAX 10k

What do they say about it: “It’s called MAX 10K because it eclipses the 10,000 g-cm² combined MOI threshold, setting a record and making it our straightest and most forgiving driver ever.

“A fixed backweight, our largest head profile, and a Carbonfly Wrap crown help G430 MAX 10K launch the ball higher with less spin for consistently longer and straighter results.”

Already being labelled the best driver in the world, the average players out there and even some of the better ones are eager to get their hands on this beast.

PXG 0311 Black Ops

What they say about it: “Tour inspired and engineered to unlock maximum distance with a penetrating ball flight.

“The PXG 0311 Black Ops Tour-1 Driver delivers a compact head design, aggressive look at address, and PXG’s signature precision weighting technology.

“The result is an explosive driver that delivers unmatched ball speed, distance and control.”

While it doesn’t carry the Max moniker, this club looks like it is intended to compete with top brands’ offerings in that category.

There are two drivers in this range with the Tour option clearly meant for better players with higher swing speeds.

TaylorMade QI 10

What they say about it: “TaylorMade’s advanced construction techniques allow strategic mass redistribution, enabling a deep and low Center of Gravity (CG) for optimal launch and spin control while maintaining high MOI. The new crown covers 97% of the top surface creating a clean and elegant look.

“The Qi10 Max features a shallower head shape that extends from front to back, housing a concentrated mass at the extreme limit from CG. This unique head shape contributes significantly to the clubhead’s inertia by allowing mass to be placed further from the center of the clubhead.

“The Qi10 Max utilizes the third generation of 60X Carbon Twist Face®, delivering a fast face on center strikes, while also preserving ball speed on mis-hits. This technology works in conjunction with a redesigned ledge that houses the face in a position that flexes in unison to efficiently optimize energy transfer at impact.”

Another Max offering that promises a lot and is highly sought-after.

TaylorMade fans will be eager to try it out, and even those who hate on the brand might have to concede its quality.

Cobra Darkspeed

What they say about it: “The DARKSPEED MAX Driver is the ultimate fairway finder. Two weight positions deliver extreme forgiveness and accuracy for players seeking higher launch and straighter ball flights.

“DARKSPEED is the culmination of meticulous attention to detail and precise integration of our most advanced technologies, using space-grade materials and the expertise of aerospace engineers to develop the fastest driver we have ever built.

“A refined clubhead shape blends aerodynamic speed with forgiving high-launch for an elevated look at address that inspires maximum confidence on the tee.”

A little more niche than the others but still an offering with broad appeal.

Plenty of golfers are lining up to try out the new Cobra Darkspeed drivers.
