the federation excludes several U17 players accused of age fraud

on

From January 7, the Union of Central African Football Federations (UNIFFAC) U17 will take place, a tournament with a qualifying ticket for CAN 2023 for under-17s. The coach of the young Indomitable Lions, Jean-Pierre Fiala, had called a list of 30 young Cameroonians to participate in this competition. But suddenly, after the compulsory medical examinations, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) led by Samuel Eto’o decided to exclude 21 players called on the previous list. Accused of age fraud, they will be digitally replaced.

“The Cameroonian Football Federation informs the public that as part of the preparations for the UNIFFAC Limbe 2023 tournament, qualifying for the next African Nations Championship for U17s, 21 players out of the 30 currently on training were rejected at the end of MRI tests. They were immediately removed from the group. Steps were immediately taken for their digital replacement. This action is the result of the strict instructions given by the President of FECAFOOT acting under the mandate of the COMEX, in order to put an end to the tampering with civil status records which have, in the past, tarnished the image of the apex body of the Cameroon soccer. FECAFOOT urges all actors, in particular educators, to ensure that the ages by category are respected”underlined the federation in a press release published this week.
