According to Dave Meltzer in the most recent edition of “The Wrestling Observer”, Vince McMahon is taking the threat of AEW in a very serious manner. Meltzer stated that the general feeling is that Vince once gave WCW an opportunity to become competition and he doesn’t want to make the same mistake with AEW.
Meltzer stated that Vince knows that without the meteoric rise of both The Rock and Steve Austin as well as WCW’s complete incompetence, the WWE would have likely gone out of business. Meltzer concluded by saying that Vince plans on doing everything in his power to ensure that he doesn’t leave the door open for AEW to take away his business.
