Jannik Sinner qualified for the second round of the Australian Open 2024. The Italian tennis player immediately showed a good level of tennis and physical fitness, beating Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round, on the Rod Laver Arena, in what was still a challenging debut full of pitfalls. In the press conference, the young Italian tennis player analyzed his victory and his performance, sharing his feelings and admitting that there is still work to be done.

“It was nice for me to get on the court, although obviously it wasn’t easy. He played well, he served well but somehow I managed to find the breaks in the important moments. It was a good feeling to be back competing. Now I have two days off, so I have plenty of time to adapt to the conditions. There was a bit of wind, but it didn’t bother me too much,” said the Italian, who added that best-of-5 sets matches can help him.

During the press conference, to Sinner was asked about the possible semi-final with Novak Djokovic. “It’s only Sunday! There’s still a lot to do and I think day by day honestly.

There will be another player on Wednesday and you have to give your all to beat him. I don’t want to talk too much about this right now, because there’s a lot of work to do to get to that point. Nobody knows the future. We all want to play big games on big stages, so we’ll see. It will be an interesting tournament,” explained the young Italian player.

Sinner talks also about teh Olympic Games in Paris

On the Olympics Sinner said: “They are one of the key moments of this year for some players. For me too, because it’s the first time I’m playing and I really want to be surrounded by other athletes, meet them… It’s something really special. We need to see how we handle the situation with the calendar, because it will be a little different.

We’ll have the Master 1000 in Canada right after that, so we’ll have to see what’s best. The Games will have priority. I don’t know if I will also participate in the doubles, I am sure I will play the singles. I need to talk to the rest of the guys and see what the best solution is.”
