Returning to play in the Ryder Cup after the disappointment of missing out on the 2023 event in Rome, Sergio Garcia has his sights set on Bethpage, New York, in 2025, where the objective is to rejoin the European team in their challenge against the American stars. To achieve this goal, the Spanish golfer, who holds the record for the most points scored (28.5) in the history of the biennial competition, will need to regain membership in the DP World Tour. Despite his success in the Arabian Super League, Garcia has announced that he will once again be part of the top continental male circuit starting next year, expressing his desire to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

“I will definitely play in four events (the minimum required to maintain membership), and perhaps even more, because I want to try to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup. I would like to be considered not only for my game but also for what I can offer to the team given my experience in the event,” stated the Major champion to Englishman Luke Donald, who led the Europeans to victory in Rome and will guide the team again in 2025.
Regarding the possibility of captaining the European team, perhaps in 2027 in Ireland, Garcia responds, “At the moment, I’m not thinking about that. I feel I still have a lot to give as a player. But I don’t rule out that it could be a possibility in the future.”
Sergio García Fernández is a Spanish professional golfer. He has competed on the European Tour, PGA Tour, and currently participates in the LIV Golf Invitational Series. García boasts 36 international tournament victories as a professional, with notable wins including the 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament. Additionally, García served as the Chairman of the Spanish football team CF Borriol.
Throughout much of his career, García has consistently ranked within the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking. He spent over 300 weeks in the top 10 between 2000 and 2009, accumulating over 450 weeks overall. In the Ryder Cup, García participated in ten out of eleven matches during his professional career, amassing a record 28.5 points throughout these matches.
