Seems WWE wrote Gulak off of NXT via mafia hit after Rousey accusation

Drew Gulak was conspicuously absent from last week’s NXT, despite the fact his No Quarter Catch Crew stable were featured on the episode. While WWE’s said nothing official on the matter, it was widely believed Gulak’s absence was related to the story Ronda Rousey shared in an interview about his pulling the drawstring on her sweatpants backstage at a WWE show.

Rousey used the incident as evidence of the toxic environment she and others say Vince McMahon fostered at WWE during his decades running the company. Gulak issued a statement on social media the day the story broke, claiming it was a misunderstanding he apologized for. But decision-makers at the company evidently thought it best for him to at least be off-screen for a little while.

We still don’t have a statement on Rousey’s accusation or Gulak’s status with the company. But it looks like he’s been written out of NXT’s plans for No Quarter Catch Crew — and possibly the brand’s future.

Last night (April 16) on NXT, the group confronted The Tony D’Angelo Family about a business deal between the two groups. D’Angelo said it involved the NQCC coming to the family “to take care of one of your own”. Charlie Dempsey — who was always primed to be the breakout star of the Crew and is now serving as its leader/primary voice — is outraged when The Family asks to be paid for the apparent hit, and makes what can be interpreted as some pretty damning statements about Gulak while expressing that:

“Who said anything about payment? I thought you were doing this for the good of the business. There was trash, and it needed to be taken care of. And that’s what you did — you happened to do the industry a bit of good while you were at it.”

In story, this is leading to a future match for NQCC’s Heritage Cup title. In reality, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be seeing Drew Gulak on WWE programming any time soon. Gulak also worked behind-the-scenes at WWE as a producer and trainer, but if Dempsey’s promo is indicative of WWE’s stance on Rousey’s accusation, he may not have much of a future at the company at all.
