Schwartzman shares brutal words on his black moment

The change of coach which occurred in September 2023 did not bring the desired effects during Diego Schwartzman’s black period. The new season of the Argentine tennis player has in fact started in a disastrous way, a bit like his 2023 ended.

A victory in seven matches for the 31-year-old Argentine, who currently occupies the 116th position in the ATP ranking, is really a small thing, compared to what he has done in the past.

Diego wanted to analyze his situation during an interview with BATennis, with whom he spoke about his situation, realizing the little time he has left on the ATP Tour as a professional tennis player.

Schwartzman admitted that he suffers from the inability to be competitive, thanks to his advancing age and the high level of his opponents.

“There are days when I don’t feel like doing anything, but there are others when I think: It’s today and I’m going out there to work. Regardless of what may happen this year, good or bad, I’m aware that I still don’t have much in the tank, but with the victories I can stretch it a little more. Victory always generates something different in your body, with defeat everything costs a little more, it’s a painful process that wears you down,” explained Schwartzman.

Schwartzman’s black moment

Diego has occupied the top areas of the ATP ranking for years, battling with the strongest tennis players in history despite a physique not suited to modern tennis. He reached the final of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome and the semi-final of the Roland Garros in the same year, but never returned to those levels of tennis.

Schwartzman, after having been one of the clay-court specialists for years, began his collapse in 2022, which even took him out of the top 100, forcing him to struggle on the Challenger circuit to get back up.
