Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • After a recent SEC filing confirmed that the remainder of Vince McMahon’s TKO shares are for sale, Wrestler Observer Newsletter followed up on their report about his next moves with “someone very close to Vince McMahon”. That source said that Vince will be looking at starting new businesses if “he can clear his name to a degree”, but a new wrestling promotion won’t be one of them.
  • That same filing revealed that Nick Khan’s TKO stock is also for sale, which prompted speculation about his WWE future. Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston explained that WWE’s president is extremely unlikely to be leaving soon due to vesting schedules and performance incentives in his current contract, which doesn’t expire until the end of 2025.
  • Drew McIntyre’s new WWE deal is for three years, according to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer. Meltzer speculates it should be worth around $4 million per year, but emphasized that that amount is unconfirmed.
  • According to WOR’s Bryan Alvarez, behind the scenes at WWE and AEW the reaction to Tony Khan calling WWE “the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling” on NFL Network was similar. People at both companies thought it was “ridiculous”. That’s because while they know WWE’s culture issues didn’t go away with McMahon, they also know “it is certainly not the entire company” that’s “evil”.
  • A source at Warner Bros Discovery told PW Insider the company was “really happy” with AEW Dynamite’s numbers last week. The were pleased it finished sixth overall on cable even with playoff sports competition, and airing live coast-to-coast. Also, several of the programs with better numbers were NBA games on TNT that are considered ”in the same family” by WBD.
  • Mustafa Ali is not in the upcoming Best of the Super Juniors because he wanted to keep his post-WWE undefeated streak going throughout the tournament and New Japan couldn’t agree to that, per bodyslam.net.
  • After his WWE release, Jinder Mahal filed trademarks for “The Maharaja” and the name “Raj Dhesi”. The belief is the latter is likely to be his new ring name.
