The next premium live event on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
We’re just a couple weeks out from showtime but we already know most of the card:
- Men’s Royal Rumble
Declared: Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre
- Women’s Royal Rumble
Declared: Bayley, Nia Jax, Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair
- WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. AJ Styles
When The Bloodline interrupted a triple threat to determine the next top contender, all three were given a shot in a Fatal 4-Way.
- United States Championship: Logan Paul (c) vs. Kevin Owens
Owens won an 8-man tournament to earn this shot at Paul and his title. He has since given Paul a black eye with a punch with his cast on, while Paul threatened to get litigious and take the title match away if KO shows up wearing the cast.
They’ve been hinting at Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax for the women’s world championship but Jax is already in the Royal Rumble while Ripley doesn’t currently have a spot on the card. Elsewhere, Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER is set to return to television on Monday Night Raw this week, so we should get an idea of what he could be doing for this show.
