The next premium live event on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sat., Jan. 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
We’re still a full month out from showtime but we already know four matches:
- Men’s Royal Rumble
It’s a big one this year with two top stars competing to finish their stories of headlining the WrestleMania and winning the championship: CM Punk and Cody Rhodes. So far, those are the only two who have officially declared for the match.
- Women’s Royal Rumble
The only two who have officially declared for the match so far are Bayley, who claims she wants to win so she can challenge Rhea Ripley for the women’s world championship and ensure Damage CTRL holds all the gold in WWE, and Nia Jax.
- WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. TBA
Randy Orton returned, and decided he wanted payback on The Bloodline and to go after Reigns for his title. AJ Styles did the same. LA Knight has been involved with them for some time now, also attempting to dethrone Reigns. The three will have a triple threat match on SmackDown at “New Year’s Revolution” on Jan. 5 and the winner will get the next shot at Reigns.
- United States Championship: Logan Paul vs. TBA
The finals of the United States Title Tournament are set, with Kevin Owens taking on Santos Escobar for the right to move on to this show to take on Paul for his title.
That’s the card so far. We can reasonably expect at least one or two more matches to be added to the show, likely something with one or both of the women’s titles.
