However, the BCCI put an end to the rumours in February, with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirming Rohit Sharma as captain. This decision was bolstered by India’s emphatic 3-0 series victory over Afghanistan under Sharma’s leadership. Rohit on MS Dhoni’s T20 World Cup selection

After being asked about MS Dhoni’s inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup squad, Rohit stated that convincing Dhoni to participate in the tournament is challenging. He noted Dhoni’s fatigue and health concerns, mentioning Dhoni’s expressed interest in playing golf instead. Rohit added that Dhoni intends to travel to the USA for golf-related activities. This inquiry arose following Dhoni’s impressive performance, scoring 20 runs off 4 balls for CSK against MI.

“It’ll be hard to convince MSD for sure to come to West Indies, I guess. Uh, he’s sick and tired. He’s coming to US, though, to do something else. He’s into golf now, so he’s coming to play golf, I guess,” said Rohit on ‘Club Prairie Fire podcast’.
