The results from our latest SB Nation Reacts survey are in and the fans are hoping for cornerback help early in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 2024 NFL Draft is finally upon us. Earlier this week, we posted our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, asking Detroit Lions fans: Which position should the Lions draft first?

Yes, we know Lions general manager Brad Holmes attacks the draft board with a “best player available” approach, but we wanted to know what fans were hoping for specifically. So, we offered fans five different options to choose from, including wide receiver, offensive line, defensive tackle, edge rusher, and cornerback. The results from that survey are in and the results are pretty clear:

Corner has long been an issue in Detroit, so it’s not surprising that it tops the list, even though the Lions added players to the roster this offseason. Additionally, most analysts believe that there will be a nice value of corner prospects available when the Lions are on the clock, which could also be influencing the vote.

Let’s take a look at a few other explanations from some of Pride of Detroit’s readers from the comment section of the original article. Note: some responses are lightly edited for ease of reading.

  • Islionsfan: “Which PLAYER should the Lions draft first? I would prefer trading up to draft Bama CB T(errion). Arnold. He would make the whole defense better as a press man CB to pair with Davis, who also excels at press man coverage.”
  • Bubba92188: “If I had to pick a player I’m going with Kool-Aid (McKinstry). Just makes the most sense.”
  • Hungry Lion: “Same as it’s been all offseason: Corner.”
