What quarterbacks do the Raiders really want?

We previously looked at the quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL draft who are the most likely to be drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in terms of how the draft board may fall.

Now, we’re going to take our turn at guessing what quarterbacks the team most desires:

Caleb Williams, USC:

He’s probably on the top of 32 teams’ draft boards. Sure, there are some analysts say they’d take someone else, but it’s pretty clear Williams is the top of this list. Of course, there’s no guarantee he will end up the best quarterback in this class.

Jayden Daniels, LSU:

With Williams pretty much off limits, Daniels seems to be the biggest object of the Raiders’ draft desires in 2024. Still, he will be pretty difficult to obtain. We know Raiders’ coach Antonio Pierce and Daniels are close from their days together at Arizona State and it’s obvious the Raiders, who have studied Daniels closely this offseason, would love to get him in Silver and Black.

J.J. McCarthy, Michigan:

This is just a feel, but just reading the tea leaves, it seems like the Raiders may be one of the teams that values McCarthy higher than Drake Maye. The good news here, is McCarthy may be easier to get to in the draft.

Drake Maye, North Carolina:

It hasn’t seemed like the Raiders have been that hot on Maye this offseason. Of course, they could be quietly scheming to trade up for him and he could always end up in Las Vegas. He would also be a solid get, but it just seems like some of the other prospects are of more interest to the Raiders.

Michael Penix, Washington:

Penix is probably in the second tier of quarterback prospects for most teams. But the question is what part of the second tier he is in. There has been a lot of speculation about the Raiders and Penix and they were at his pro day and they had him in town for a visit. We could easily see the Raiders landing Penix either at No. 13 or in a draft trade. And they would probably be thrilled about it.

Bo Nix

Bo Nix, Oregon:

Nix may be the sixth name on this list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Las Vegas doesn’t have interest in him. Like Penix, the Raiders reportedly had him in for a visit in addition to going to his pro day. So, he’s a possibility to land in Las Vegas.

Spencer Rattler, South Carolina, Jordan Travis, Florida State, Michael Pratt, Tulane:

It would be a shock if any of these prospects are among the top six quarterbacks drafted and they probably won’t go off the board until the mid-second round. But if the Raiders can’t get to any of the above quarterbacks, they could easily take one of these players on Day 2.
