How many people play PUBG? The game has gone through a lot of changes over the years. From being a viral hit to having to compete with an entire game of games inspired by it, the PUBG player count has seen some big fluctuations. Has it still managed to hold onto a decent number of players though?

Looking at the trajectory of PUBG, it’s easy to be a bit disheartened about the player count. It definitely isn’t as big in PC gaming culture as it was a few years ago. However, PUBG has become considerably more polished in that time. The mobile version of the game is huge too. Considering all the types of PUBG available, how many people play PUBG in total now?

PUBG is one of the games that really broke the Battle Royale genre open. It set the stage for games like Fortnite and Warzone, popularizing this intense form of shooter. Its all-time player peak reflects just how big it was at one point. On Steam, more than 3,000,000 players were once online at once. How does that compare to the current count though?

In early 2024, the average daily peak for PUBG is around 600,000 players on Steam. It’s not quite the millions it had at its peak. However, it’s still an impressive number. Not quite as high as the Fortnite player count, but still impressive for a game that’s been going on this long.

Outside of its 2018 peak, things have been pretty stable for PUBG. Its player count did drop to around 300,000 at one point, but it has been steadily climbing since. It’s still a healthy title. These figures are just on PC too. We don’t have exact data for consoles. However, we can expect them to be a similar reflection of the drop from a Peak there too.

PUBG on console and PC is only part of the story now. PUBG Mobile has been incredibly popular. It’s one of the most successful mobile esports games and has a dedicated fan base. How many people play PUBG Mobile now though?

The PUBG Mobile title has managed some impressive feats in player count. PUBG Mobile has more than 30 million daily players, and has had hundreds of millions of downloads. For mobile games, a lot of what we know about the player base comes from information released by publishers. This means it’s a less complete picture. However, it seems PUBG mobile is still the most popular form of the game.

How Many People Play PUBG?

Looking at these figures, we can at least say PUBG as a whole has over 30 million active monthly players. We know quite a few of those still play on PC. Although, the mobile game has a huge number of players too.

PUBG is still on the more popular side of its genre. While the PC game isn’t as popular as it once was, it seems the mobile game has grown far beyond what the original was. It’s meant the total PUBG player count is still really high.
