Protesters Storm Stage at PGL Copenhagen Major

on

Protesters ran on stage at the PGL Copenhagen Major tonight during the G2 vs. MOUZ quarterfinal. They appear to have been protesting G2’s sponsorship with CSGORoll, a skin trading platform and official partner of G2.

Protesters detained

The incident, which took place during map 2 on Vertigo, didn’t last long. The protesters were met with boos from the crowd and a quick reaction from security. However, the trophy was broken during the scuffle and appeared to fall on top of one of the protesters instead of being intentionally broken.

Attendees and talent alike, including Eefje “sjokz” Depoorte took to X to voice disgust over the actions, labelling it a “disgrace”. Fortunately, the players were able to continue the game and played out some excellent Counter-Strike.

During the post game interview, match winners G2 focused on the positive outcomes from the match. They celebrated their 2-0 victory, and deservedly so. But they still took the time to thank the audience for their support over the incident.

“Thank you for staying with us tonight, we had some difficult situations so thank you” – Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, G2 Esports

Arena security have to be commended for their swift reaction to the incident. The protesters were removed from the stage and detained by police before being removed from the venue. Security was tightened and additional barricades brought out in order to ensure the players and audience were safe for the rest of the game.

G2 will face NaVi in the semi finals

As always, the show must go on. Now that G2 has secured their place in the semi finals, they’ll have to go up against NaVi tomorrow.

Earlier today, FaZe Clan got their revenge on Team Spirit after the grand finals at IEM Katowice and will now have to take down Team Vitality to make the finals of the first ever CS2 Major.
