Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will travel to the city of Santos on Tuesday morning to pay his last respects to Brazilian football legend Pelé, who died last Thursday at the age of 82, the presidency announced on Monday. Lula, sworn in as president on Sunday, will thus make the first trip of his term outside of Brasilia, to make a “Tribute to Pele”whose coffin is exposed in his garden in Vila Belmiro, the stadium of Santos FC, “and in solidarity with his family, Tuesday at 9 a.m. (1 p.m. in France)”said the presidency.

As a reminder, a funeral wake began Monday at 10 a.m. (local time) in the Santos FC club where Pelé wrote a good part of his legend. Open to the public for 24 hours without interruption, it will end on Tuesday shortly after the passage of Lula. In addition, Pelé will then be buried the same day in a private ceremony in the cemetery of the port city south of Sao Paulo.
