About Pepperdine University

Pepperdine University is a private US university located in Malibu, California. The main campus covers an area of 340 hectares and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the main campus, courses are held in six others scattered throughout Southern California. The University also has campuses in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Switzerland and Argentina, more precisely in the cities of Heidelberg, London, Florence, Shanghai, Lausanne and Buenos Aires. In August 1984, the water polo competitions of the Games of the XXIII Olympiad were held in the Malibu campus swimming pool.

The university is composed of an undergraduate liberal arts school and four graduate schools: the Caruso School of Law, the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, the Graziadio Business School, and the School of Public Policy.

In February 1937, against the backdrop of the Great Depression, George Pepperdine founded a liberal arts college in the city of Los Angeles to be affiliated with the Churches of Christ and to be called George Pepperdine College.

Pepperdine University competes in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics. Most teams play in the West Coast Conference, but men’s volleyball plays in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and men’s water polo plays in the Golden Coast Conference. Pepperdine’s teams are known as the Waves.
