Undrafted in 2018, Joey Slye stands 78 games into his NFL career.

A second kicker has joined the depth chart for the New England Patriots.

The organization agreed to terms with veteran free agent Joey Slye on Thursday, as first reported by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Slye, 28, stands 78 games into a career that began as an undrafted rookie in 2018. The Virginia Tech product has made stops with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders and signed with Jacksonville Jaguars in March.

He was released earlier in the week after Jacksonville’s selection of Arkansas’ Cam Little in the sixth round the NFL draft.

Setting a career long with a 61-yarder last season, Slye has gone 121-for-147 on field goals for a conversion rate of 82.3 percent. The 5-foot-11, 213-pound right-legged kicker has also gone 138-for-156 on extra points. During his time in the league, he has seen 298 of his 358 kickoffs result in touchbacks.

The former third-team All-ACC selection will compete with Chad Ryland, a 2023 draft choice, as the fourth week of the offseason program continues in Foxborough.

As a Patriots rookie last campaign, Ryland went 16-for-25 on field goals, 24-for-25 on extra points and served as the team’s kickoff specialist. A long 56 yards arrived along the way for the No. 112 overall pick out of Eastern Michigan and Maryland.
