The Patriots have made their final selection in this year’s draft.

The New England Patriots have made their eighth and final selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. With the 231st overall pick in Round 7, they added Florida State tight end Jaheim Bell to their roster.

Bell, 22, started his college career at South Carolina. After appearing in 30 games with 11 starts over a three-year stretch, he transferred to Florida State for his senior campaign. Bell caught 39 passes for 503 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his lone season as a Seminole.

At 6-foot-2, 241 pounds, Bell is slightly on the smaller side compared to traditional tight end measurements. However, he projects as more of a versatile move option rather than a traditional inline player at the position — competing with Mitchell Wilcox and La’Michael Pettway for a backup spot behind the top two of Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper.

The selection of Bell wraps up New England’s draft. He joins first-round quarterback Drake Maye, as well as wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and offensive tackle Caedan Wallace, who were picked in the second and third rounds, respectively. Guard Layden Robinson and wide receiver Javon Baker were added in Round 4, with cornerback Marcellas Dial and quarterback Joe Milton joining the group in Round 6.

Their additions leave 11 open spots on the Patriots’ offseason roster. The expectation is that those will be filled with undrafted rookie free agents.
