Paige On Calming Nia Jax Down After Becky Lynch Botch, WWE’s Support Of The Women’s Division

on

While promoting her new biopic Fighting With My Family, WWE superstar Paige spoke with the Los Angeles Times about her relationship with Nia Jax, specifically when she consulted the former Raw champion after the botched punch that left Becky Lynch with a broken jaw.  Paige reveals that Jax was quite upset about the incident, especially since Lynch was forced to bow out of her high-stakes showdown with Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. Jax would receive a ton of heat from the WWE Universe.

I had to calm Nia down from that because she was like, ‘I feel like everyone is mad!’ And I said, ‘You know what? This elevated Becky so much too. And you’re about to turn heel anyways…so who cares?

Paige would then shift topics and open up about her time in Florida Championship Wrestling (NXT today) and reveal that while WWE was very supportive of building their women’s division, the fans at the time were not very interested.

When I first came there, WWE really did love the women wrestlers. They really did support them. It’s just that a lot of the time the fans didn’t. They looked at them like ‘T&A.’ They’d go use the restroom during our matches and didn’t take us very seriously.
