After his teammate Oscar Piastri revealed earlier on Wednesday his special Ayrton Senna-inspired helmet livery for this weekend’s Monaco GP, Lando Norris followed suit with his own headgear design dedicated to the great Brazilian.
Both McLaren drivers will be racing in the Principality onboard their MCL38 draped in a bespoke color scheme that takes its cue from Senna’s yellow, green and blue helmet colors.
So it’s only logical for the pair to sport one-off lids designed to pay homage to Senna, a six-time winner in the streets of Monte Carlo.
“My tribute to a hero of mine,” Norris wrote on social media as he unveiled his helmet’s artful composition, which relies on his basic design of swirling lines embellished with Senna’s trademark colors.
“Senna is a true legend of our sport and has inspired not only me but every driver who races today,” The McLaren driver added.
“He’s the greatest to ever race around Monaco and I wanted to capture that in this helmet. His iconic design combined with mirrored chrome to reflect the streets he was so great on.”
McLaren’s drivers head to Monaco with the ambition of winning F1’s crown jewel next Sunday, but their mission will also be about honoring the past and racing towards the future where legends like Senna continue to inspire.
