While he has been free since ending his last remaining months of contract at Manchester United, the Portuguese is of absolutely no interest to any major European team. However, this is what he was looking for above all else, he who still has his place as top scorer in the Champions League in the back of his mind.
Without C1 since last February and an early elimination in the round of 16 by Atlético de Madrid, the five-time Ballon d’Or is now under threat from a Lionel Messi. As well as being in a position to win the World Cup tomorrow against France, which would put him above his Portuguese rival in the pantheon of world football, the Argentinian is now only 11 lengths behind CR7 (140 goals against 129). One more season at PSG could be enough to exceed this bar.
No European club has made an offer
One more affront, the one who lost his starting place in the round of 16 with the Seleção during this World Cup. This situation will not help his case with potential courtiers. For the moment, he must resolve to probably leave Europe for a country in the Persian Gulf. Only Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, coached by Rudi Garcia, and Al-Sadd, reigning Qatari champion, offer him golden bridges to allow him to pursue his career which he undoubtedly considered different at 37 years old.
