After wanting to take a step back from his role as a consultant for CBS, the Englishman Nick Faldo returns to the world of golf with a new hat on behalf of the DP World Tour.
“It’s a real honor” is how Sir Nick Faldo commented on the information that he would be in charge of the destiny of the British Masters, one of the historic tournaments of the DP World Tour.
A few months ago, the English six-time major winner left his commentary box with emotion, to retire to his ranch and adopt a more peaceful pace of life.

But at 65, Faldo felt he was ready to put on a new costume in the professional world and became the host of the British Masters for 5 years.
The event takes place on the mythical Belfry course in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham, where many editions of the Ryder Cup took place before the European Tour decided to take it across Europe.
Faldo appeared in three of the four Ryder Cups held at this course in 1985, 1989 and 1993.
He also won the British Masters on the Woburn course in 1989.
“It is a real honor to have the opportunity to host the Betfred British Masters, especially at such an iconic venue as The Belfry. It is a course with a history that is intertwined with British and European golf, and we have had some incredible times there in the past.”
After 16 years at CBS Faldo said a moving farewell in August at the Wyndham Championship and now lives on a farm in Montana with his wife Lindsay.
The player knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2009 regularly posts videos of him enjoying his new way of life.
This does not prevent him from feeling some strong emotions like the time he said that a bear had climbed the fence of his property.
He achieved a total of 30 victories on the European Tour, earning first place on the Order of Merit in the 1983 and 1992 seasons. He spent 97 weeks at the top of the world golf rankings from 1990 to 1994.
He was a three-time winner of the Augusta Masters in 1989, 1990, and 1996, and a three-time winner of the British Open in 1987, 1990, and 1992. He also had three second-place finishes, three third-place finishes, and a total of 18 top-five finishes at major tournaments. His major victories also include two at the 1989 and 1992 World Match Play Championships, four at the 1978, 1980, 1981 and 1989 British PGA Championships, and one at the 1988 Volvo Masters.
On his day he was the youngest participant to play a Ryder Cup at the age of 20 and is the golfer with the most participations (eleven). He helped the European team win the 1995 and 1997 editions. He is the second player with the most points scored for the European team, collecting 25 points in 46 games, and is also one of the players who has lost the most games in this competition.
In 2008 he captained the European Ryder Cup team, having the dubious honor of being the only captain who has not won the competition so far this century.
After his retirement, Faldo has worked as a golf commentator for the American Broadcasting Company television networks from 2004 to 2006, and then on CBS and Golf Channel from 2007. He has also been a commentator on the British Open on the BBC British networks. and Sky Sports.
