NFL Schedule 2024: Building Miami Dolphins schedule from fan perspective – Part 2

The NFL schedule release was moved to next week, but we can continue to build our fan preferred version of it for the Miami Dolphins.

The 2024 NFL schedule is expected to be released next week, a delay from the original expectation of it coming out by Thursday night. That has provided us with a little more time to build out the fan-created Miami Dolphins schedule for 2024.

Earlier this week, we posted a series of polls in our Dolphins fan-created schedule part one. We move on to part two of the schedule build this morning with another series of polls, asking you to start slotting teams into specific weeks. Part one provided us with each week’s home or away decision, allowing us to tailor the poll for the week’s possible opponents. The Week 18 options list just the Dolphins’ AFC East rivals, assuming 2024 continues the tradition of divisional matchups across the league for the final weekend.

We also have to decide on which day some of the games will be played. Should a game be a Monday Night Football game? A Christmas day game? We ask you to weigh in on four matchups for the Dolphins that, based on your votes from part one, should be in a standalone timeslot.

We did have to make one correction from part one to part two. The Christmas day Wednesday game messed up my counting of weeks for the league’s schedule and I shifted the dates for the last couple of weeks, skipping a weekend. I had the season ending in Week 18 on what will be Wildcard weekend. The dates have been corrected below.

This post is very survey-heavy—hopefully, you will still vote in all of them. Also, if you select a team for Miami to play in Week 1, the polls are not linked to each other, so you could vote for the same team every week, allowing you to decide the Dolphins should play the Buffalo Bills every week of the season. I would ask that you select each team once (or AFC East teams twice), but it is your vote—do as you want.

As we said in part one, if you read this on AMP or Apple News, the polls are probably removed from the article.

Primetime/Standalone Games

The fan vote in part one of this series saw four standalone games push just ahead of three for the Dolphins in 2024. The top four teams in the poll of who should be Miami’s standalone opponents were the 49ers, the Bills, the Texans, and the Packers. Now we need to figure out when those games should be played.

Which teams should the Dolphins play each week?

Since we now have the home or away preference for each game, we can start to fill in teams. The bye week fell on Week 10, according to the fan vote. From there, the nine games with the highest “home” vote were declared home games – minus the league giving the Dolphins a four-game homestand to end the season. In that case, I skipped the lowest of the three games at the end of the season, making it an away game. The games may be shifted based on the standalone game vote above if it has to be done based on the results.
