There was a timing issue with the end of Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode, according to Fightful. The show was supposed to end with a huge spot that would have saw Mustafa Ali deliver a Spanish Fly to WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush on the floor.
As seen in the post-show video released by WWE, they did the spot, but it did not air on TV because of the timing issue.
John Pollock noted on POSTWrestling that SmackDown does have to end before 10pm ET because of a commercial break that airs before the top of the hour, leading into the local news on affiliate stations, which is why SmackDown has to go off the air a few minutes before.
