Good morning Gang Green Nation! NFL teams are cutting good safeties in droves. That may present an opportunity for the Jets to pick up a good defensive player on the cheap, as the glut of safeties on the open market should result in some disinflation for safety contracts. However, even with presumably discounted prices, the Jets should think long and hard before spending scarce cap space on what could be viewed as a luxury addition for an already formidable Jets defense. While I wouldn’t entirely rule out signing a free agent safety, depending on the price, the Jets probably can and probably should get more bang for the buck by signing players for the woefully untalented Jets offense.
