MultiVersus is coming back. The once deleted crossover fighter has been building up to a return all year, with fans now clear that May is when the title will return completely re-done. Promotion for that return has started to heat up too. Most recently, we’ve seen the MultiVersus NHL Face-Off announced. This will be a special presentation happening April 14th to promote MultiVersus to a wider audience than ever.
After a strong start, MultiVersus eventually shut down as the player base dwindled. Key to a successful return for the title is maintaining a bigger player size that what it had gotten to, especially considering the free-to-play monetization model at work here. If the game wants to sustain a higher player base, it’ll need to recapture some of those players who left after seeing support pushed back repeatedly, but also bring in new players. The MultiVersus NHL Face-Off will be an event to bring wider exposure to the game, ahead of MultiVersus coming back. What exactly will it be?

What is the MultiVersus NHL Face Off?
The MultiVersus NHL Face Off is going to be a special animated feature, taking place midway through an NHL game. We’ll see various characters from MultiVersus is a unique piece of animation showing off the diverse cast. The variety of MultiVersus characters are a big part of what makes the game special. This animation will depict them in a special selection draft.
The whole thing will be taking place during the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knight match. This is between two Stanley Cup winners, making it a pretty big game this season. Having the special MultiVersus NHL Face-Off presentation here will help to expose the game to a much wider source of potential players. Before the face-off itself, we’ll also see a draft of MultiVersus characters in a separate game on April 7.
MultiVersus has a bit of a road ahead getting back to being one of the best fighting games. Especially with increased competition since it went away. Promos like this might help make sure the game can capture an even wider audience when it does come back though.
