MOUZ and Spirit go 3:0 at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Elimination Stage

on

Day two of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Elimination Stage is complete, with the first teams securing their place in the Playoffs. It’s been a great tournament for the young guns so far, as both MOUZ and Spirit have already progressed to the next round in 3:0 fashion.

We’re walking you through the key points of another day of action, including a few teams you may be surprised to see on the verge of Major elimination…

After an impressive day one of the Elimination Stage, MOUZ wasted no time continuing where they left off today. They absolutely routed Complexity, winning both maps 13:1 and 13:2. This was simply no contest, with this young team beginning to show they’re far more than just potential.

We’ll always give props to the ever-impressive Jimpphat. No one let MOUZ down on the server, but young Jimmy showed why he’s already considered one of the best anchors in the game at just 17 years old. He’s certain to have an amazing career ahead, and in his first-ever Major appearance, he’s made the Playoffs.

Spirit saves Pick’Ems everywhere

It was dicey for a moment there, but Spirit 3:0 pickers rejoiced as the team overcame a map deficit against NAVI to save just about everyone’s PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Pick’Ems. This was the expected result, but there’s no doubt that NAVI put up a solid fight. In the first map, Spirit were powerless as jL dropped 40 kills to single-handedly put NAVI in the lead. That just awoke the beast for maps two and three.

On the day, it was that potent duo again, sh1ro and donk, who made the difference. It was a quieter series than usual for zont1x, although magixx and chopper both had their moments in the spotlight too. Spirit can now sit back and enjoy the rest of the Elimination Stage, safe in the knowledge that their Playoff berth is secure. If they’re not favorites to take the trophy at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, then we don’t know who is.

FaZe and G2 on the verge of elimination

In sadder news, both FaZe and G2 find themselves on the verge of elimination at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. These two teams, who most would have among the favorites pre-tournament, have both fallen into the 1:2 bracket after a poor couple of days on the server.

FaZe fell to Eternal Fire in an embarrassing 13:1 Overpass. Not a single player on FaZe managed to reach double-digit kills, and frankly, they were lucky it wasn’t a 13:0. They’ve got a night’s rest to buck up their ideas and come back stronger, or else it’s curtains for FaZe.

It wasn’t quite so one-sided for G2, who lost 13:9 to Cloud9. While there’s no shame in that, you do have to wonder how G2 vetoed into Cloud9’s best map in a best-of-one format. If NiKo is to break his CS Major curse in Copenhagen, he’s going to have to do it the hard way here.
