What games should fans look forward to this season?

Now that the 2024 NFL schedule has been released, we can now take a look at all of the matchups the Buccaneers have and where they are on the schedule. There are a lot of interesting games for this year’s slate, but let’s try and break down the most anticipated games.

Week 1 vs Washington Commanders, 4:25 PM EST

The Bucs open up their season at home for the first time since 2021 and only the second time since 2019. Not only will this be the first game of the season, but it will also likely be the debut of the second overall pick in the draft, quarterback Jayden Daniels. I know some Bucs fans will be nervous opening up against a rookie QB given the Bucs history with them, but it could also be an advantage for Tampa Bay as Todd Bowles’ group can throw a lot of different looks at the rookie signal caller.

Week one will always be an anticipated game no matter who the matchup is because everyone is so grateful and excited for football to be back. Hopefully the Bucs can start the year off on the right note.

Week 2 @ Detroit Lions, 1:00 PM EST

We begin with a game that is all too familiar to the Bucs. In week two they will travel to the same place where their 2023 season ended and face off once again against the Lions. Can the Bucs get revenge on Detroit? Will former Buccaneer Carlton Davis get revenge on the team that traded him? There are no shortage of storylines here.

From an excitement standpoint, this game should have a lot of it but from a pure football perspective, this will be a difficult game for Tampa Bay as Detroit is one of the best teams not just in the NFC, but the entire NFL. We will see how this divisional round rematch goes, but it should be one Bucs fans have their eye on.

Week 5 @ Atlanta Falcons, 8:15 PM EST, Thursday Night Football

The Buccaneers first primetime game of the season and it is a major one. The Atlanta Falcons could very well be the team that competes with Tampa for the NFC South crown. After adding Kirk Cousins in the offseason, they appear primed to give the Bucs a run for their money. This is the Bucs first divisional game of the season and it will be under the bright lights of Thursday night football.

The first primetime game of the season is always one that will get circled, but especially when it is a game that could potentially have major playoff implications down the line. The Bucs have to start fast and a win over a division opponent would be a great way to help defend the NFC South title.

Week 7 vs Baltimore Ravens, 8:15 PM EST, Monday Night Football

The Baltimore Ravens and the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson come to town for a Monday Night showdown with the Bucs. The Ravens are one of the best teams in the entire league and they added star running back Derrick Henry this offseason. They are a Super Bowl contender and a prime time game in Tampa always has a special feel to it.

This will be a good test for Tampa Bay in the middle of the season and maybe they could even pull off an upset in front of a national audience.

Week 16 @ Dallas Cowboys, 8:20 PM EST, Sunday Night Football

One more prime time game on this list and it comes with the Dallas Cowboys. To me, Sunday Night Football has always been the premier prime time slot. With the game being so late in the season, it could have some playoff implications. If the Bucs don’t have a chance at the division for whatever reason, the Cowboys could very well be one of the teams they are competing with for a wild card spot.

It would be pretty sweet for the Bucs to go into Jerry world and spoil America’s Team’s Sunday night.
