Mikaela Shiffrin, the alpine ski champion who is dominating the 2023 world cup and is preparing for the World Cup appointment, recently recounted a lunch with Swiss legend Roger Federer.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the US admitted how this appointment helped her a lot to be positive and enthusiastic again, given that she was going through a difficult period of her life, from a sporting and private point of view.

She told: “I feel like that lunch came at a time when I really needed it. Roger was telling me that to preserve the longevity of your career, you need to take moments to look around you, appreciate where you are, breathe it in. When you get into your career, when it gets harder to look up and around you and appreciate everything in that moment, that’s when it’s most important to do it.”

Mikaela has achieved a record 85 world cup victories, surpassing Lindsey Vonn with 82 and aiming for Stenmark, who is stopped at 86.

The American added that Roger gave her the following advice: “Federer advised me to enjoy the most incredible moments because what I do is incredible. I was like, Oh my God, Roger Federer is telling me about my career.

It was a little difficult to sum it all up and understand everything he was saying, because I was kind of blown away by all the time we spent together over lunch.”

The event took place after the World Cup stage in Lenzerheide, which saw Federer’s participation upon arrival.

Shiffrin also told of the female skiers’ reaction to the Swiss champion’s presence: “All the girls were like, Oh my God, they’re showing Roger. Roger Federer is here! He’s at the finish line!’ They were all so nervous, more nervous about him than about the race itself.”
