Lionel Messi has been advised by Argentinian legend Mario Kempes to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, while a return to FC Barcelona is under consideration.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or is at the end of his contract with the Parc des Princes and will be free this summer if no agreement is reached.

PSG are keen to implement an extension and 1978 World Cup winner Kempes, who saw Messi emulate his efforts by winning the world title at Qatar 2022, believes staying in France would allow the greatest player of all. the times to be better prepared for a new World Cup bid in 2026.

A return to Barca?
As Messi is advised to sign a new contract in Paris, questions continue to arise over his level of commitment to PSG. It has therefore been suggested that he either return to Camp Nou – should Barca find the funds to complete a deal – or take on a new challenge in MLS or the Middle East.
