on

Maria Timofeeva took to Instagram to tell a pretty stunning story as the 20-year-old claims for the second time in six months she has been robbed in Spain and this time someone took 10k euros from her bank card.

Earlier this week, Timofeeva competed in the Madrid Open qualifying event, where she started with a win over Fiona Ferro but then lost to Harriet Dart in the final round. A few days after falling short of making the Madrid main draw, Timofeeva had something she wanted to share with her fans and see if someone could help her in some way.

According to Timofeeva, someone made several purchases from her account but she kept her bank card for the majority of the time with her. Also, Timofeeva says for every transaction she makes, a confirmation code is sent to her phone but this time it didn’t happen.

Timofeeva’s baffling story of how someone robbed her in Madrid

“Here I am back in Spain six months later and I’ve been robbed again. So I would like to share my story and could really use some advice from the people who might have been in a similar situation before or tell me how it could happen and yeah, let’s get to it,” Timofeeva said in a post uploaded on Instagram.

“So apparently in the past few days, I’m here in Madrid, someone has been spending money from my bank account and spent little more than €10,000. I’m freaking out because I don’t know how it could happen.

“Physically my card was with me most of the time, except for one episode when I left it in my room while the room was being cleaned by the maids of the hotel I’m staying in. I don’t know what else to tell.

“The circumstances are crazy and I don’t know how it could happen so please share something and be aware of people in Spain and of these situations because it’s happening every (expletive) time I’m coming here and this is getting out of control.”

In her post, Timofeeva also highlighted that she didn’t use ATMs during her stay in the Spanish capital city. Also, Timofeeva revealed that her bank account had been frozen and that she turned to the police in the hopes of finding the culprit and getting her money back.
