Belgian golfer Manon De Roey showcased her dominance at the Investec South African Women’s Open, an event on the Ladies European Tour organized in collaboration with the Sunshine Ladies Tour. She concluded the tournament with a total score of 274 (-14), securing a four-stroke lead over English golfer Gabriella Cowley and New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori, who finished tied for second with scores of 278 (-10).

The competition took place at the Erinvale Country & Golf Estate (par 72) in Cape Town, South Africa. The only Italian in the field, Virginia Elena Carta, finished 24th with a score of 288 (par), showing a respectable performance.
Manon De Roey, a 32-year-old from Antwerp, claimed her second title on the LET, following her first victory in 2022 at the Aramco Series Bangkok. Her impressive resume also includes three victories on the LET Access Tour and one on the Australian ALPG Tour. She began the tournament in 11th place and steadily ascended to the top spot from the second round onwards, progressively extending her lead and comfortably closing out the victory with an even-par 72 (two birdies, two bogeys) in the final round.
In fourth place with a score of 280 (-8) was South African golfer Nicole Garcia, followed by Ines Laklalech from Morocco in fifth with 281 (-7). Austrian Sarah Schober and English golfer Hannah Burke tied for sixth with scores of 282 (-6), while Swedish golfer Lisa Petterson finished eighth with a score of 283 (-5). De Roey received a prize of 48,000 euros out of a total purse of 320,000 euros.
The rules of golf constitute a set of standard norms and procedures governing the game of golf. These rules are jointly drafted and managed by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the global governing body for golf, except in the United States and Mexico, where the authority lies with the United States Golf Association.
A committee of experts, comprised of members from both the R&A and USGA, oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision came into effect on January 1, 2016. Changes to the rules of golf typically fall into two main categories: those aimed at enhancing understanding and those that, in certain cases, reduce penalties to ensure fairness.
The rulebook, titled “Rules of Golf,” is regularly published and also includes provisions regulating amateur status in golf. In Italy, Federgolf is tasked with overseeing competitions, ensuring compliance with the rules issued by the R&A, and ensuring that these norms are observed by clubs, associations, and their members. Federgolf also handles the sporting justice resulting from rule violations, safeguarding the interests of its affiliates abroad.
