The Madrid Golf Tribute Gala brought together at Palacio del Negralejo all the Madrid golfers who have achieved national and international notoriety with great victories and outstanding performances.

An acknowledgment applauded by Alberto Tomé, vice-counselor for sports of the Community of Madrid, who highlighted “the effort of the winners, whose values are on the roadmap of our sports management, and that together with the organization of national and international events, has turned the Community of Madrid into a powerful tourist and sports destination for playing golf”.

Madrid golf, results

The sporting success of last season was summed up by Ignacio Guerras, president of the Madrid Golf Federation: “A year ago it seemed almost impossible that such a good season could be repeated, but it has been surpassed. More than 90,000 members, the most the highest of the last decade, plus incredible victories, such as Eugenio Chacarra, the first man from Madrid to win an event on the LIV Golf Tour, or those of Cayetana Fernández, Paula Martín and Andrea Revuelta in the Women’s World Championship, among many others. Now I am sure that next year will be even better thanks to the effort and work of the federated members, clubs, committees, institutions and all the golf enthusiasts who excel each season”.

The gala also recognized the merits of personalities and entities for the work carried out in the growth of golf in Madrid. Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, received the FGM Medal of Merit in Golf individually; and the Youth School of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Society Club de Campo, with the Medal of Merit in Golf in the institutional section.

Special Mentions were also awarded to the Lomas-Bosque Golf Club, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding; to the RACE Sports Complex, for the success and work carried out in the celebration of the Comunidad de Madrid Ladies Open, and to José María García de Paredes, for his work in managing the CETEMA team, the Madrid Modernization Center, since 2014, and so many successes has reaped all these years

Among the award-winning athletes, the victories of Cayetana Fernández, Paula Martín and Andrea Revuelta in the Junior Women’s World Championship, the victory of Alejandro del Rey in the Challenge Tour or the victory of Eugenio Chacarra in the Bangkok LIV Golf Tour stand out.
