Lille outclasses Troyes and rejoins the Top 5

on

We take the same and start again. A week after their duel in the Coupe de France, logically won by LOSC (2-0), Lille and Troyes faced each other again this Sunday during the 19th day of the championship. And the confrontation once again turned (largely) in favor of Lille (5-1). However, the start of the match was not the most ideal for the Mastiffs, who lost their winger Adam Ounas in the sixth minute to injury. Uninhibited in the first minutes, the Trojans obtained the first goal situation through the inevitable Mama Baldé (7 goals in Ligue 1), but his shot went just wide of the cages (9th). A good start to the match not rewarded for ESTAC, which suffered the opener a few minutes later. Perfectly launched by Gomes, Mohamed Bayo sent a powerful shot with an unstoppable right foot for Mateusz Lis (1-0, 16th). A goal that would definitely launch the Northerners.

Collectively coherent, Paulo Fonseca’s men took control of the game by monopolizing the ball (68% of possession). Very prominent in the first period, Edon Zhegrova touched the post with a heavy shot from the left foot (39th). Just before half-time, Benjamin André’s teammates drove the point home by making the break. On a ball released by Lis after a face-to-face with Bayo, Jonathan David only had to adjust his shot into the empty goal (2-0, 45th + 2).

As soon as they returned from the locker room, Lille killed all suspense by scoring the third goal. On a distant attempt by Timothy Weah, the Trojan defense was too passive and Bayo found himself alone in the penalty area to score twice (3-0, 47th). Too low defensively, the partners Rony Lopes could not get out of the pressure from Lille and conceded a lot of chances (50th, 56th).

But Troyes had not said its last word, and reduced the mark to the score after a goal from Baldé on a tense cross from Abdu Conté (3-1, 65th). A setback that did not disturb the Mastiffs, very close to aggravating the addition, but Alan Virginius missed his face-to-face (69th). The young Frenchman (20) however caught up a few minutes later, scoring Lille’s fourth goal (4-1, 75th), his first with LOSC. And the festival at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium was not over since the providential man, Jonathan David, also came to score a double after a header from a cross from Remy Cabella (88th, 5-1). A triumph which therefore revives Lille, after two draws in the league. For its part, Troyes has a third consecutive defeat in all competitions. A series that ESTAC will have trouble stopping the next day, since it faces none other than the dolphin of PSG, RC Lens.
