LET, the Aramco Team Series in South Korea

The Ladies European Tour is moving from South Africa to South Korea for the second of the five Aramco-sponsored tournaments. The action will take place at the New Korea Country Club in Seoul from May 10 to May 12. A total of 108 players, including Virginia Elena Carta and Alessandra Fanali, will compete in the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Korea. The players will have a dual opportunity to compete in both an individual event (54 holes) and a team event (36 holes across 36 teams composed of three professionals and one amateur on May 10 and 11). The total prize fund is set at one million dollars, with $500,000 allocated to each event.

French golfer Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who won last year’s event in Singapore, is back to defend her title and is a strong contender for a repeat victory. However, all eyes are likely to be on England’s Charley Hull, the world number eight, and South Korea’s own Hyo-Joo Kim, ranked number 12, as pre-tournament favorites. The competition will also feature eight of the top ten players from the money list, including the top three: England’s Bronte Law, Belgium’s Manon De Roey, and Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini.

Among the long list of contenders aiming for high placement are Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe, Shannon Tan from Singapore, India’s Diksha Dagar, Thailand’s Aunchisa Utama, the United States’ Danielle Kang, Slovenia’s Pia Babnik, and Czech player Klara Davidson Spilkova.

In the team competition, the Italian players will lead two teams. Alessandra Fanali, ranked number 10 on the money list, will team up with Spain’s Paz Marfa Sans, Finland’s Tiia Koivisto, and amateur Jungjin Lee. Virginia Elena Carta will lead a team featuring England’s Annabell Fuller, France’s Anais Meyssonnier, and amateur Sehoon Chang.

It’s worth noting that Aramco also sponsored another high-stakes event earlier this season, the Saudi International, which featured a prize fund of $5 million—the highest on the circuit excluding the majors—and was won by Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit. This series of tournaments continues to highlight Aramco’s significant investment in women’s professional golf, contributing to the sport’s growth and providing platforms for emerging talents to showcase their skills on an international stage.
